Tokuzo Yamada, Doukutsu Kannon Founder
Everyone is just thinking about saving money, even though most people leave the money for their children without using it. However, the children waste money without realizing how hard their parents worked for it, which ends up negatively. Therefore, I think leaving an inheritance for your children is actually bad. If someone had money to leave their children, a true human should invest that money for the world’s benefit. Because of this perspective, I invested all my personal assets to complete Doukutsu Kannon so that it would be a famous spot in Takasaki. I worked on attracting visitors from other areas and placed 39 Kannon statues in the cave to evoke a sense of faith in the visitors to improve the world, however slightly. It is my conviction to complete this project no matter what the hardship may be. Jiji Shinpo Gunma Edition, July 18th, 1935
